Top 10 Most Missed Soap Opera Characters

With 2025 quickly winding to a fateful close, many entertainment bloggers, far and away more successful than I can ever hope to be, are busily posting 'Top 10' lists spotlighting the best (and the worst!) in television this year. It's always exciting when a favorite character, actor, or couple pops up on the "hit" list, and upsetting AF if they end up on the other list, AKA the "miss" list. We've all had faves appear on one list or another at some point, right? Sometimes you get bragging rights. Sometimes you get to hide your head in shame!

These "Top 10" lists are completely subjective, written by an author or authors with their own opinions on things, and my little list is no different. Every character on here is a personal favorite. I did try to take into consideration fan fervor, return potential, and the replies I received on X about the topic, but ultimately, the final decision is mine.

And now, without further ado, here are soap's most missed characters.

If you know me at all, then you know I was going to put Sam McCall right at the top of this list. She's my favorite of favorites. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Many people on social media agree that killing off Sweet Sam was an egregious error. Kelly Monaco has a legion of fans who have pleaded for Sam's return to GH via billboards, campaigns, and petitions. They're not giving up, and honestly, why should they? Kelly Monaco (the one and only Sam!!) is a beloved, freaking icon!

Sam isn't the only missed soap character. Just as many passionate fans clamour for Spencer's return. Like his cousin Sam, Spencer is a Cassadine. He's a legacy character from one of the most famous clans in daytime history. Spencer's pairing with Trina is arguably the most successful soap opera romance to come along in the past decade. Nicholas Chavez and Tabyana Ali were perfect scene partners. The #Sprina hashtag still trends on X. Nicholas is very missed, but considering how he's exploded onto the big Hollywood scene in the past two years, there is a strong possibility Spencer will be recast whenever he returns. But make no mistake, he must return!
